GSEO Core Values: Dedication, Sustainability, and Global Accountability
The Green and Smart Energy Organization (GSEO) is a non-profit international energy organization registered in Vienna, established with support by Kandeh Yumkella, former UN Under-Secretary-General, and Long Yongtu, the chief negotiator for China’s accession to the WTO. The organization’s mission is to assist in the implementation of the Chinese government’s new energy security strategy and to “accelerate carbon neutrality and promote smart development and the clean and low-carbon transformation of global energy systems,” and it is committed to promoting multilateral cooperation in the field of global green energy through various means including policy coordination, partnerships, and cooperative projects.
Previous activities organized by the GSEO include the 2021 International Conference on Cooperation in the Hydrogen Energy Industry, held in Chengdu on May 28-29 and jointly hosted with support from the Sichuan Provincial Bureau for Economic Cooperation, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Sichuan Council, and the China Construction Bank Sichuan Branch. Representatives from more than 120 international companies and authoritative organizations active in the hydrogen energy sector took part in the conference, and the GSEO signed several agreements for strengthening cooperation in promoting new and renewable forms of energy.
The GSEO is now actively working with its international and domestic Chinese partners on launching new projects in sustainable development, with a focus on projects involving multilateral cooperation in renewable forms of energy including hydrogen, solar, and wind. In support of its goals the GSEO is now recruiting Economic Affairs and International Cooperation Interns to assist in providing technical, analytical and logistic support for research proposals and team events.
Duties and Responsibilities：
Support the GSEO staff in compiling, collating, and analyzing economic data, in particular related to energy policy, environmental and development cooperation related topics；
Assist in preparation of project proposals；
Assist in preparation of public documents related to GSEO activities, including press releases, project summaries, website contents, etc;
Assist in the organization and servicing of meetings, seminars, panels, etc;
Performs other related duties as required and necessary for the final delivery of the GSEO’s services.
Be enrolled in a graduate school programme, or in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor’s level or equivalent), in development studies, economics, social sciences, international relations, business administration, translation, etc., with economic-related research or practical experience preferred;
English and Mandarin Chinese are the working languages of the GSEO. Fluency in English, with strong writing skills, is required for the internship. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and a third language is an advantage.
The internship is full-time, with a 5-day working week. Must be available for a minimum 3-month internship period, with preference for those available for 6 months or longer.
